Product Profile

At Bodegas Lar de Paula, located in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa, in the town of Elvillar de Álava,Fernando Meruelo transforms the most delicate Tempranillo grapes in magnificent and modern Rioja wines.

Protected to the north by the Sierra de Cantabria and
bordering to the south with the fertile Ebro valley, the benign climate of this region guarantees the supply of quality fruits for some of the highest vineyards in La Rioja. Austere in style, in keeping with the surroundings, the winery itself was built with
one purpose in mind: highlight the best features of
the Tempranillo grape through a process in which excellence is the main concern.

Winemaking

100% old vine Tempranillo. After careful selection, the old vine Tempranillo grapes are destemmed, crushed and the must is fermented in stainless steel tanks with the Ganimede method, which takes advantage of the natural emission of carbon dioxide during fermentation to automatically submerge the cap. This innovative method prevents oxidation and better preserves the color and aromas of the wine. The wine ferments between 10 and 12 days at a constant temperature of between 28 and 30 ºC

The wine is aged in French and American oak for 24 months and then completes its aging with another 12 months in the bottle.

Tasting Note

Great intensity that combines aromas of ripe fruit and spices with a mineral character and nuances from aging in quality oak. Elegant, tasty, medium-bodied and with ripe, elegant and well-structured tannins.
