Since the creation of ARAEX Grands in 1993, Javier Galarreta has applied his experience in management and strategy to place Spanish wine among the best. The company, which expanded in 2001 to add a further range wide range of Spanish wines to the Rioja catalogue, it is one of the main exporters of Spain. An innovative project: the meeting between France and Spain.

Winemaking

The grapes come from the Clos d'en Ferran estate, located near the town of Porrera, with soil rich in Devonian iron slate, the oldest rock in the DOQ Priorat (400 million years old). It contains a lot of quartz and oxides that give it a reddish to yellowish appearance.

Mixture of planted varieties: CARINYENA (3.5 ha), GARNACHA (1.5 ha), and mixed vineyards of GARNACHA WHITE, Macabeo, Viognier and some Pedro Ximénez (1 ha).

Grape selection begins in the vineyard and continues on the selection table. The stems are then removed without crushing the grapes. The grapes are stored under controlled conditions and undergo long macerations at low temperatures in oak barrels with submerged caps. The must is raised naturally, using gravity to achieve the best extraction of polyphenols. The pressing is carried out using a vertical pneumatic press and after it malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak barrels.

This wine is bottled unfiltered.
