Product Profile
Château Gilbert & Gaillard has a firm rooting in the heart of the garrigue-clad countryside, in a Natura 2000 protected area, in the Saint-Chinian appellation area, Languedoc-Roussillon. Its exceptional vineyard sites unfurl across its clay-limestone hills at elevations ranging from 150 to 210 metres above sea level. Its red wines blended from Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre combine freshness, minerality and superior aromatic expression.
Situated in the village of Puisserguier, in the Saint-Chinian appellation area in the heart of Hérault, the estate extends over more than 55 hectares including 33 hectares under vine. Vineyard blocks, woodland and garrigue alternate at Château Gilbert & Gaillard where every effort is made to safeguard and promote biodiversity, with the introduction of bee hives, upkeep of hedges and trees, introduction of bat roosts, etc
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand and placed in
boxes, which helps to keep the fruit fresh. After direct whole-cluster pressing, the Mourvèdre grapes were vinified in new barrels and 1 year old barrels for 15 days. The wine ages for 5 months before being
assembled and prepared for bottling.
Tasting Note
This rosé vinified in new barrels displays a pink color
pale salmon. Its nose subtly combines scents of
red fruits, citrus and delicate toasted notes. In
on the palate it seduces with its fullness, its richness, its directness. A
gastronomic rosé that is both generous and elegant.
