Who makes it?

Bellevue Wine Estate, nestled in South Africa's prestigious Stellenbosch region, has a rich history spanning over 160 years. Owned by the Morkel family since 1861, the estate began its transformation from a livestock farm into a renowned winery under the leadership of PK Morkel, a descendant of German immigrant Philip Morkel. Today, the family tradition continues with Dirkie Morkel, who has modernized the estate with advanced winemaking technology while honoring its deep-rooted legacy
How is it made?

This exceptional Bordeaux-style blend is named after one of Bellevue's prized Arabian mares, embodying power, purity, and elegance. The wine is a classic combination of five noble grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (10%), Malbec (10%), Petit Verdot (10%), and Cabernet Franc (10%). The grapes are sourced from some of South Africa's oldest vineyards, where the vines are carefully nurtured using sustainable, eco-friendly practices. After a four-day cold soak, each grape variety is fermented separately and then aged for 22 months in French oak barrels (60% new) before being blended to create a harmonious and complex wine.
What does it taste like?

This elegant wine offers a classic Bordeaux-style profile. On the nose, it presents notes of blackcurrant, tobacco leaf, and cigar box. The palate is equally refined, featuring a rich, dark berry fruit character balanced by fine-grained tannins. Its texture is silky-smooth, leading to a long, lingering finish. The wine is an ideal pairing for classic fine dining and also has the potential to be cellared for several years, allowing its flavors to evolve and deepen over time.
