Distillery
Is it a marketing myth that Bushmills is the oldest working distillery in Ireland or is it a fact? What is for ure is that the first official license for Bushmills was granted in 1784... not 1608. But who can tell how long distilling had been common here at Bushmills without official permission?
Triple distillation is the open secret of Bushmills Distillery that makes its Whiskey unique and smooth. After Midleton Distillery Bushmills is the second biggest Irish distillery with an annual production capacity of 4.5 mio liters and stills are running seven days a week. After Jameson and Tullamore Dew Bushmills is worldwide the most famous and demanded Irish Whiskey.
Production
The 1999 American Oak Cask is a limited edition, rare cask strength (50.1% ABV) and non chill-filtered Irish single malt.
This unparalleled single malt has spent its entire life in the finest new American oak casks. Filled on 14th September 1999, it has spent over 23 years patiently maturing in these casks hand-crafted at the Kelvin Cooperage in Kentucky, USA. The virgin oak imparts flavours quickly – adding big hits of intense vanilla, coconut, warm spice and creamy chocolate.
Tasting Note
The decades have amplified the rich oak notes, adding laters of caramelised fruit and cinnamon, leaving you with a deep, sweet velvety vanilla finish with warm wood spices. It's a sensational whiskey that stands with the best of Irish Single Malt, a giant in its own right.
