Who makes it?

Located in the prestigious Haut-Médoc region, the Château Coufran vineyard sits north of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, bordering the Saint-Estèphe and Pauillac appellations. This 76-hectare estate stretches across a sun-drenched hillside reaching 21 meters in altitude. The vineyard benefits from a unique microclimate shaped by the Gironde Estuary and the Atlantic Ocean. Its terroir consists of a single block of clay and gravel soils, which are ideal for producing Coufran’s signature Merlot-dominant Bordeaux wines.

How is it made?

A blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented in stainless steel. The wine then aged in 25% new oak for 12 months

What does it taste like?

Medium-to-full bodied with a round, velvety texture—a direct result of the high Merlot percentage. Unlike the more aggressive tannins often found in neighboring Saint-Estèphe, Coufran’s tannins are supple and silky. Flavors of licorice, espresso, and dried herbs balance the sweet fruit.
