Who makes it?

Château Meyney stands as one of the most historic and prestigious estates in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, with a heritage dating back to the 13th century. Originally cultivated by Cistercian monks, the estate was officially established in 1625 when the land was bequeathed to the Pères Feuillants. Over the centuries, the property transitioned through the hands of the Luetkens family—who introduced the "Château" title in the 19th century—and the influential Cordier family, who cemented its international reputation. Today, under the stewardship of the Crédit Agricole group and the expert leadership of Anne Le Naour, this "sleeping beauty" of the northern Médoc continues to produce world-class wines that honor its deep-rooted history.

How is it made?

The production of Château Meyney is a study in precision and respect for the land. The vineyard benefits from a rigorous double-sorting process, where grapes are hand-selected both in the field and again at the cellar to ensure only the finest fruit is used. This vintage features a classic Bordeaux blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, and 11% Petit Verdot. Each tank undergoes a gentle vinification process specifically adapted to its contents, allowing for the optimal extraction of color and tannin. To complete its development, the wine is matured for 18 months in French oak barrels, a process that imparts a sophisticated structure and a refined, lingering finish.

What does it taste like?

This vintage tells a story of triumph over nature’s volatility, resulting in a wine of remarkable character. Following a challenging spring marked by late-April frosts, the vines were revitalized by an exceptionally hot spring and a variable summer. While early concerns arose regarding small berries and potential acidity issues, heavy rainfall in early September proved to be a turning point, restoring perfect balance to the fruit. The resulting wine is beautifully poised, offering a vibrant profile with concentrated dark fruit flavors and a fresh, structured acidity. It is a resilient expression of Saint-Estèphe, delivering the power and elegance that collectors and enthusiasts have come to expect from this storied estate.
