Chateau Tronquoy-Lalande is a historic estate situated on the gravelly hilltops of St Estephe, enjoying a favourable position overlooking the Gironde estuary. Its origins trace back to the 18th century, with the construction of the château designed by Victor Louis, the architect of Bordeaux's Grand Théâtre. The property saw several owners before being acquired in 2006 by Olivier and Martin Bouygues, who also own the esteemed Second Growth, Chateau Montrose, located nearby. Since their acquisition, significant investments have been made to modernise the vineyard and winemaking facilities, while preserving the estate's unique character and focus on producing high-quality, value-driven wines from its distinct terroir.

The vineyard of Chateau Tronquoy-Lalande benefits from clayish gravel soils, which play a crucial role in regulating water supply to the vines, encouraging deep root development and mitigating hydric stress. The wine is crafted from a blend predominantly consisting of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 10% Petit Verdot. Grapes are harvested with careful attention to ripeness, monitored through analysis and daily tasting. The vinification process involves maceration periods typically lasting between 18 and 22 days, with extraction tailored to the specific characteristics of each parcel, ensuring the resulting musts exhibit deep colour indicative of high quality.

This wine presents a dark and deep colour in the glass. On the nose, it offers powerful and expressive aromas, particularly revealing rich notes of red fruits. The palate is distinguished by a great precision of fruit and the presence of silky tannins. It is described as dense and intense, demonstrating a beautiful balance between finesse and structure, leading to a well-defined and harmonious tasting experience.
