Who makes it?

The Columbia Valley, located east of Washington’s Cascade Mountains, has a long history of viticulture, with grapes being cultivated there since the early 1900s. This region stretches from the Okanagan National Forest to Dalles, Oregon, primarily situated on the Columbia River Plateau. The Cascade Mountains provide a natural barrier to the Pacific, resulting in a dry, desert-like climate with warm, sunny days, cool nights, and minimal annual rainfall of 6 to 8 inches. Its geographical position between the 46th and 47th parallels, similar to Bordeaux and Burgundy, combined with its distinctive soils, contributes to its unique terroir.

How is it made?

Greenwing Cabernet is crafted from a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 4% Malbec, and 2% Syrah. Cabernet Sauvignon, the most widely planted grape in the Columbia Valley, thrives in the region's arid, sun-kissed climate, developing notable depth and complexity. The 2023 growing season was particularly favorable, despite a late budbreak and some rain during harvest, yielding grapes of exceptional quality with deep color, rich textures, and complex fruit profiles, while maintaining natural acidity. The wine is aged for 16 months in a combination of stainless steel and French oak, with 30% new and 70% neutral barrels.

What does it taste like?

This Cabernet presents a vibrant expression of its origin, with an alcohol content of 13.9%. The wine offers aromas of wild strawberry, Rainier cherry, and ripe plum, complemented by notes of baking spice and rustic earth. On the palate, a dynamic profile of pomegranate and raspberry unfolds, balanced by the richness of candied fig and juicy plum. The wine possesses a harmonious palate weight, leading to a persistent and satisfying finish.
