Who makes it?

In 1964, in the town of Elvillar de Álava, one of the most elevations of the Rioja Alavesa, the Meruelo family created Bodegas Baroja estate. The winery was built with a single purpose in mind: converting high-quality Tempranillo grapes into classic expressions of elegant Rioja wine. From vineyards at more than 600 meters above sea level, which arise from a mixture of clay and limestone, its grapes reach the perfect balance of ripeness and acidity thanks to the oscillations temperature extremes between day and night, of 20 degrees or more during the grape ripening season. The control of the temperature, stainless steel tanks with a capacity of between 12,000 and 30,000 kilos and exhaustive control in each phase... everything is
aimed at ensuring the quality and character that reside in these
unique vines and are manifested in each bottle of Heredad de Baroja

How is it made?

Once the selection of this 100% Tempranillo grape has been made, the grapes are destemmed, crushed and the must is fermented in stainless steel tanks at 28ºC for 4 days, followed by a short maceration for another 4 days.

The new wine is aged in American oak for 12 months and then completes its aging in the bottle for at least 6 months.

What does it taste like?

Explosion of primary aromas with complex and persistent nuances of berries and toasted notes of oak.vWith great intensity and structure, it offers a balanced palate with sweet tannins and fresh acidity. Good length ending.
