Who makes it?

Before it became a seven-time Wine Spectator Top 100 legend (including clinching the coveted "Wine of the Year" crown), Kosta Browne started back in 1997 with a dream, some serious hustle, and an absolute obsession with cool-climate masterpieces. Today, this North American icon operates out of a luxuriously sleek, by-appointment-only winery in downtown Sebastopol, crafting elite, small-lot wines that collectors happily fight over. By locking down exclusive partnerships with the most coveted growers across California and nurturing their own legendary estate programs—like the prized Keefer Ranch—Kosta Browne has cemented its reputation as the undisputed royalty of premium Sonoma County winemaking.

How is it made?

To create this particular liquid gold, Winemaker Julien Howsepian sourced premium Chardonnay grapes from the absolute coolest, fog-drenched corners of the Russian River Valley, where the maritime Pacific breeze allows the fruit to mature gracefully. The technical wizardry behind this bottle reads like a love letter to artisanal winemaking: 100% whole-cluster pressed fruit underwent completely wild, native primary and malolactic fermentations to build mind-bending depth. The wine was then pampered through a multi-layered aging regime, spending 14 months split between 30% new French oak, 4% new Austrian oak, and concrete wood casks, before finishing its beauty sleep with six months in stainless steel. It is a masterclass in balance, offering a premium Russian River Chardonnay that proudly showcases complex terroir without losing its bright, vibrant edge.

What does it taste like?

On the nose, this exceptional Chardonnay hits you with a grand, aromatic greeting of fresh tropical mango, zesty honeyed lemon peel, and the irresistible, comforting scent of freshly toasted brioche. Take a sip, and the palate is a total showstopper—brilliantly balancing lively, crisp acidity with a rich yet lean structure. Thanks to its native fermentation and meticulously layered oak aging, it coats the mouth with a smooth, refined texture that somehow feels entirely weightless on the finish. It is complex, soul-stirring, and pairs perfectly with high-end seafood or a completely empty house.
