Who makes it?

Before they were a certified big deal, Kosta Browne started like all the best Californian legends: with a dream, a ton of passion, and a healthy dose of hustle back in 1997. Today, they are North America’s undisputed royalty of premium cool-climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, having landed on Wine Spectator’s coveted "Top 100 Wines" list seven times (even snatching the crown for "Wine of the Year" in 2011). Stationed in a luxuriously appointed winery in downtown Sebastopol, this iconic Sonoma County producer handles some of the most exclusive real estate in the wine world.

How is it made?

This bottle isn't just a luxury Sonoma Coast red wine; it’s a masterclass in liquid geography. Winemaker Julien Howsepian sourced the fruit from a high-achieving roster of eight exceptional Russian River Valley vineyards, blending prized estate plots with legendary single-vineyard sites like Bootlegger's Hill, Giusti Ranch, and Keefer Ranch. The secret weapon here is the famous Goldridge loam soil and the dramatic Pacific fog that rolls down the river daily, acting like nature’s own air conditioning to slow-ripen the grapes. Julien played mad scientist with an insane mix of ten different Pinot Noir clones (including Pommard, Swan, and Calera), fermenting them mostly in stainless steel with a dash of wood and concrete. The final elixir was aged for 15 months in a sophisticated split of 34% new French oak and 14% wood casks, resulting in a perfectly balanced 14.1% ABV masterpiece.

What does it taste like?

Pour a glass and prepare to have your senses thoroughly charmed. The nose kicks off an enchanting aromatic dance party, bursting with pronounced wild blackberry, ripe red cherry, and layers of fresh raspberry that practically leap out of the glass. On the palate, this high-end Pinot Noir shifts into pure velvet. It is silky smooth with a delicate, tantalizing tension (thanks to a perfectly dialed-in 3.59 pH and 5.6 g/L total acidity) that keeps it lively rather than heavy. It finishes with a remarkable, lingering crescendo that will leave you staring at the bottom of your glass, wondering how a wine can be this thought-provoking and effortlessly drinkable all at once. Pair it with roasted duck, fine company, or a Tuesday night that needs an immediate upgrade.
