Who makes it?

Founded by Gino Zenato in the early 60’s, this
family winery was originally set up as a nursery to produce vine stock for the
local area. In 1981 Gino’s son, Valerio, stepped into the company and it is his
influence and skill that have brought the company to where it is today.

The Lugana DOC sits on the edge of Lake Garda
in Northern Italy. The lake itself influences the vineyards, creating a more
suitablie climate for growing grapes for high quality wines.

One of the things we love about Le Morette is
the winery’s passion for environmental practices. They don’t use herbicides and
synthetic fertilisers. They plant cover crops in the vineyards to attract the
greatest number of insects for the benefit of vegetative balance. Irrigation is
only used in emergencies They even make their own honey!

How is it made?

The grapes for this Veronese red wine are carefully harvested by hand in the first half of September. This is followed by a gentle pressing of the grapes and fermentation with skin contact with daily tumbling. Part of the wine then matures in stainless steel tanks and part in tonneau barrels for four to six months. Finally, the Serai Rosso IGT matures in its bottle for at least two to three months.

What does it taste like?

A fruity bouquet reminiscent of cherry, plum and berries; at palate it is balanced, medium bodied, fresh and soft, with enveloping structure
