Who makes it?

Nestled among the rolling, sun-drenched hills of Tuscany, Menicucci 1689 is the brainchild of founder Luca Menicucci, a man with the "noble perfume of Sangiovese" in his blood. Driven by a lifelong passion for his territory, Luca has dedicated his craft to protecting the unique identity of Italian viticulture. This winery is a celebration of Tuscan heritage, blending timeless tradition with a modern vision. From their historic Chianti DOCG roots to the prestigious Super Tuscan "Solo," every bottle produced by Menicucci 1689 serves as a liquid postcard from one of the world’s most beloved wine regions.

How is it made?

The magic behind this exceptional red lies in a meticulous winemaking process that balances power with grace. Composed of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot, the grapes are hand-selected at the peak of ripeness between September and October. Only the "flower wine"—the highest quality free-run juice—is used, undergoing a controlled fermentation at 28°C with 20 days of skin contact to extract deep color and character. To achieve its sophisticated structure, the wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barriques, followed by a gentle 6-month rest in the bottle, ensuring every sip is perfectly polished.

What does it taste like?

Pouring an intense ruby red with sophisticated garnet reflections, this wine is an absolute showstopper. On the nose, it offers an austere and complex bouquet where deep notes of liquorice, earthy root, and sweet plum syrup take center stage. The palate is where the true elegance shines; it is finely knit and structured, boasting a pronounced minerality and sapidity that speaks to its Tuscan terroir. Perfectly balanced at 14% alcohol, this wine is best enjoyed at a serving temperature of 18°C, making it a stellar companion for a refined dinner or a cozy night of storytelling.
