Who makes it?

The story of Menicucci 1689 is a love letter to the rolling hills of Tuscany, penned by founder Luca Menicucci. Born and raised amidst the noble scents of the Italian countryside, Luca built his winery on a foundation of deep respect for his territory’s unique identity. Based in one of the world’s most prestigious wine-growing regions, Menicucci 1689 focuses on protecting the soul of Tuscan viticulture. Every bottle reflects a lifelong passion for the land, blending historical traditions with a modern vision to create world-class wines that capture the elegance and austerity of the region's legendary terroir.

How is it made?

This exceptional red is a masterclass in balance, blending 90% Sangiovese with 10% Merlot to achieve a sophisticated profile. The journey begins with a meticulous hand selection of grapes between late September and early October, ensuring only the finest fruit makes the cut. In the cellar, the "flower wine" (the highest quality juice from the first gentle pressing) undergoes fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperatures. To develop its signature depth and velvety texture, the wine is treated to a 20-day maceration on the skins before aging for 12 months in premium tonneaux. This careful maturation process marries the spicy oak influence with the vibrant fruit of the Italian grapes

What does it taste like?

Pouring a deep ruby red with delicate garnet reflections, this wine immediately signals its high-end pedigree. The nose is an inviting playground of complexity; expect a "fragile" yet persistent bouquet where ripe red fruits melt into sweet spices, lifted by unexpected, breezy notes of menthol and eucalyptus. On the palate, this Tuscan red truly shows its muscles. It boasts a powerful, sapid, and rich polyphenol structure that commands attention while maintaining a rare, seamless harmony. Best served at 18°C, it is a bold, soulful choice for connoisseurs looking to experience the true personality of Italy in a glas
