Who makes it?

Born from the rolling hills and sun-drenched landscapes of Italy, Menicucci 1689 is the passion project of founder Luca Menicucci. Rooted deeply in the prestigious Tuscan soil, this winery is a tribute to a territory world-renowned for its "noble perfumes" and viticultural heritage. Luca’s mission is simple yet profound: to protect the unique identity of Tuscan winemaking while sharing the elegance of his homeland with the world. From the historic heart of Cerreto and Montalbano, Menicucci 1689 blends tradition with a modern spark, ensuring every bottle captures the soulful essence of the Italian countryside.

How is it made?

This vibrant red is a masterclass in balance, artfully blending the "King of Grapes," Sangiovese (90%), with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon (5%) and Merlot (5%) for added body and flair. The journey begins with a meticulous hand-selection of grapes between late September and early October to ensure only the finest fruit makes the cut. To preserve its fresh, energetic character, the wine undergoes a gentle pressing followed by a 10-day fermentation in stainless steel vats. By utilizing macro-oxygenation and precise temperature control, the winemakers coax out maximum flavor before aging the wine in stainless steel for six months, resulting in a clean, expressive finish that honors the fruit.

What does it taste like?

In the glass, this wine shows off an intense ruby red hue with playful violet reflections that hint at its youthful energy. The nose is an inviting invitation to a Tuscan summer, bursting with the aromas of warm berry jam and subtle, savory undertones. On the palate, the rich soils of the region deliver a sapid and decisive structure—this is a wine with a big personality that remains remarkably wide and balanced. Best served between 16-18°C, it’s a sophisticated yet approachable choice for your next dinner party or a cozy night in.
