Who makes it?

Born from the rolling hills and sun-drenched landscapes of Italy’s most iconic wine region, Menicucci 1689 is the passion project of founder Luca Menicucci. With deep roots in the Tuscany territory, Luca has dedicated his life to honoring the noble heritage of Sangiovese while pushing the boundaries of local viticulture. This boutique winery blends centuries of tradition with a modern, ambitious vision, ensuring every bottle captures the "noble perfumes" of the land. From the historic Chianti DOCG prestige to contemporary Super Tuscans, Menicucci 1689 represents a perfect harmony between ancestral respect and world-class elegance.

How is it made?

This exceptional red is a masterclass in Tuscan winemaking, bringing together a bold trio of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (30%), and Syrah (10%). The journey begins with a rigorous hand-selection of grapes between late September and early October, ensuring only the finest fruit makes the cut. To preserve the unique character of each variety, the grapes undergo separate vinification in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures. The wine then retreats into new French oak barriques for an extensive 24-month aging period. This patient process softens the structure and infuses the liquid with sophisticated layers of oak and spice, resulting in a robust 14.5% ABV powerhouse.

What does it taste like?

Poured into the glass, this wine reveals a stunning, intense ruby red hue that hints at the richness within. The nose is greeted by a complex bouquet where vibrant dark fruits dance alongside refined balsamic notes and toasted wood. On the palate, expect a wine of immense character and "wow" factor; it offers a velvety texture and impressive volume that lingers long after the final sip. The tannins are remarkably soft and well-balanced, playing beautifully with a fresh acidity that keeps the profile bright and elegant. For the ultimate experience, serve this Tuscan gem at 18°C and pair it with hearty roasts or aged cheeses.
