Product Profile

Nativ Srl, was born in the heart of Irpinia, in Southern Italy, by oenoligist Dr. Mario Ercolino and  food scientist Dr. Roberta Pirone. Their aim was to work closely with growers to create excellent expressions of the local wines.

The name Nativ was chosen to illustrate this dedication to local specialisms.

Founded in 2008, the company makes the typical wines of Southern Italy including Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo, Falanghina, Aglianico and Aglianico of Taurasi. They have a range of owned vineyards but also work with local growers to make sure grape quality is high

Winemaking

The 100% Aglianico grapes are harvested by hand and transported in small boxes of 20 kg. They are subject to light pressing, maceration for about 20 days in steel silos, before fermentation. The wine then ages in new French oak barrels of 225 hl for 12 to 18 months.

Tasting Note

Deep coloured, intense in dark fruit flavour, strong tannins and relatively high in acidity. Notes of damson and dark berry fruits, a smoky, mineral, volcanic element with bitter chocolate, peppery spice and a balsamic note.
