Who makes it?

If you’ve ever wondered what happens when a visionary oenologist (Dr. Mario Ercolino) and a brilliant food scientist (Dr. Roberta Pirone) pool their superpowers, look no further than Nativ Srl. Founded in 2008 in the rugged heart of Irpinia, Southern Italy, this powerhouse duo set out on a mission to craft the ultimate expressions of Campania’s indigenous grape varieties. The name "Nativ" isn’t just a clever branding choice; it represents a deep, unwavering commitment to local terroir and regional heritage. This particular heavyweight red hails from the sun-drenched hills of Taurasi, specifically from a legendary plot of land where wild horses used to roam free beside the ancient ruins of the S. Quirico hermitage. Today, instead of wild stallions, the land produces legendary Italian red wine, sustained by the estate's dedicated collaboration with the finest local growers.

How is it made?

You can’t make an ordinary wine when your vines are dug deep into explosive, nutrient-rich volcanic land. The Nativ Eremo San Quirico Gold is crafted from 100% Aglianico grapes grown in the prestigious Campi Taurasini region using the meticulous counter-espalier, spurred cordon farming system. Come October, these precious grapes are harvested entirely by hand, coddled into tiny 20 kg boxes, and rushed to the cellar. Following a rigorous crushing, the juice undergoes a lengthy 20-day maceration and alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel silos to extract every ounce of personality from the skins. Then comes the VIP treatment: the wine is moved to new, first-passage 2.25 HL French oak barriques to age for a generous 18 months. The grand finale? Dr. Ercolino personally tastes every single barrique just before Christmas, selflessly sacrificing his sobriety to select only the absolute best, most aromatic barrels for the final "Eremo Gold" bottling.

What does it taste like?

This Campanian powerhouse is a sensory overload in the best way possible. On the nose, it hits you with an opulent bouquet of sweet Mayan cherry, tightly intertwined with complex layers of exotic spices, balsamic herbs, rich leather, and a seductive hit of dark chocolate. Take a sip, and the palate reveals a dense, concentrated, and full-bodied flavour profile that refuses to be ignored. It’s thick, luxurious, and velvet-smooth. For the ultimate dining experience, serve this liquid gold at a precise 18°C. It is the ultimate match for elaborate meat sauces, prime cuts of red meat, wild game, or a block of intensely aged cheese that can stand up to its magnificent swagger.
