Who makes it?

Chateau Sigognac Medoc is an acclaimed Medoc produced from a skilful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Notes of cedar and black pepper with rich black berry fruit, a smooth body and fine tannins. Situated just outside Saint-Yzans de Medoc and with the estuary immediately to its East, the 47 hectare vineyard of the Chateau Sigognac is planted in clay-chalky and clay-sandy soils which are characteristic of the Medoc region.

How is it made?

This red Bordeaux is a blend of Merlot 50% and Cabernet Franc 50% which have undergone traditional vinification and ageing in stainless steel vats. The colour is deep red and bright with a pleasant nose of spice and red berry aromas. Smooth, medium bodied and silky, this is a well-balanced and approachable red Bordeaux.

What does it taste like?

Violets and blackcurrants on the nose with blackberry leaf, clove, bitter chocolate and dried earth. Some savoury mushroom and dried-oyster notes, too. It’s medium-bodied with sleek, tight-grained tannins and fresh acidity. Juicy and linear. Drink or hold. 90pts James Suckling
